Freelectron collaborated in upgrading GE D20 RTU at 55 substations at KLIA

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) serves the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, and is one of world’s largest airports. It is also Malaysia's main international airport. The airport is managed by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), a Malaysian airport company responsible for managing the majority of airports in Malaysia. This project is a good example of customer needs in upgrading GE D20 RTU by using DNP 3.0 in Malaysia and represents Freelectron trustable partnering and reliable solution providing.

KLIA upgrading RTU project also shows a roadmap to how migration from a legacy solution to smart substation in Malaysia could be possible.

KLIA’s solutions include upgrading D20 RTU from serial to IP network base using ASAT DAPmini server.

“From the beginning of GE’s D20 upgrading RTUs Freelectron engineers face many challenges, but finally the project has been done on time and within the budget. In fact, we have used Freelectron supports for years in KLIA.” Said Mr.Rahmat Taib , MAHB facilities manager.
